Chamber partners with Monty Tech to promote manufacturing
The North Central Massachusetts Chamber of Commerce and its economic development affiliate the North Central Massachusetts Development Corporation hosted a manufacturing bus tour recently for 46 students and chaperones from Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School as part of their efforts to promote careers in manufacturing and highlight the importance of manufacturing to North Central Massachusetts.
It’s 3D, and it’s free — Middleboro shows off new Makerspace

MIDDLEBORO — A few months ago, it was just an idea.
Then Richard Oakley and a dedicated crew of volunteers put their heads together and made it happen.
They’re hoping to pass along that same creative, engineering spirit to Middleboro’s children with the fruit of their labor: a cozy new Makerspace in the Town Annex building that gives local kids a chance to learn about things like 3D printing, robotics and programming.

The aim of the newly opened TEC Boston is to develop innovative products together with renowned medical and laboratory equipment manufacturers in the immediate vicinity.

Manufacturing will need nearly 3.5 million manufacturing workers by 2025, but it's projected that 2 million of those jobs will go unfilled due to a proficiency gap.More and more, schools and companies have stepped in to attract students to manufacturing and teach necessary skills, including 3D printing.
