The Next Draft: State’s Manufacturing Caucus continues honoring breweries for work as manufacturers

WORCESTER — Dave Richardson was dubious of a letter that arrived recently to his Park Avenue brewery informing him that Flying Dreams Brewing Co. would receive an award for manufacturing.

Richardson wondered whether the Legislature’s Manufacturing Caucus, which started giving out awards to different manufacturers in the state four years ago, had confused Flying Dreams with one of the larger breweries in Central Massachusetts.

18 Central Mass. manufacturers honored at State House

Nearly 20 Central Massachusetts manufacturers were honored at the Massachusetts State House by the Legislature's Manufacturing Caucus during the fourth annual manufacturing award ceremony.

The caucus honored 78 manufacturers statewide, from a variety of different areas, from breweries to plastic molding and farms. Each year the Manufacturing Caucus of Massachusetts accepts submissions from various representatives and senators on behalf of manufacturing companies throughout Massachusetts.

The state has formed a Legislative Manufacturing Caucus and spent millions of dollars in workforce development. Last week, the state announced $2.5 million for advanced manufacturing training.
